Stonebwoy joins Global Citizen Festival lineup in Lagos
Stonebwoy, Tems, Burna Boy and Dave headline the 2026 Global Citizen Festival West Africa, bringing the anti-poverty advocacy concert to Lagos for the first time.
Global Citizen announced on Monday that its 2026 West Africa festival, to be held on the grounds of Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos on November 8, will feature Stonebwoy, Tems, Burna Boy, British rapper Dave and Senegalese icon Youssou N’Dour in what the organisation describes as the most ambitious concert event yet staged on the African continent.nnStonebwoy, the only Ghanaian artist on the headline bill, said the platform aligned with his long-standing advocacy for poverty reduction and universal education. “Music is the vehicle. The message is the destination,” he said in a statement. “Global Citizen’s platform allows artists to translate cultural energy directly into political pressure.”nnGlobal Citizen CEO Hugh Evans said the Lagos festival would focus on three advocacy campaigns: ending extreme poverty in the Sahel, accelerating universal primary education in West Africa, and calling on G7 nations to honour unmet climate finance commitments to African governments.nnTickets for the festival are free but earned through completed advocacy actions on the Global Citizen platform — signing petitions, contacting elected officials and participating in campaigns. Previous Global Citizen festivals in New York, Accra and Johannesburg have generated over $1 billion in pledges from governments and private sector actors.nnGhanaian fans who cannot attend the Lagos show will be able to watch a live stream on the Global Citizen website and on StarTimes channels. A separate Ghana-based activation event in Accra is being planned for the same day, with local artists performing in solidarity with the Lagos programme.
